POSSESSION is the key for the Inverell Highlanders when they take on the Moree Bulls tomorrow.
And coach Ron Walters said they would also need to be patient when they play the Bulls in Moree.
The last time the Highlanders played Moree they drew 27-all.
Tomorrow, Walters is hoping for a different ending.
"We are off to the Bulls' ring and we really need to be prepared," Walters said.
"The forwards will need to stand up this weekend because entering the ring, we have to take them by the throat really early.
"We basically need the dominance up front and not let ourselves down in the set pieces like we did last week."
Walters said it would be a tough match.
“We have some major injuries at the moment and hopefully we can overcome them to play at our best,” he said.
“The Bulls have a really strong front row and we really need to match them.
“At training we have been working on scrummaging this week and we really need to be mobile around the paddock.
“We need to face up to them using our scrums and lineouts.
“We also need to dominate the rucks and mauls and really keep up with the ball.”
Walters said at the last encounter, the Bulls were committed in defence.
“They really took us on tick for tack,” he said.
“The even score indicated how tough that match was and it is going to be the same again this weekend.
“They play the kind of footy I like, where they focus on the basics.
“So we need to make sure we have everything right and be prepared.
“Possession is the main thing.
“We also need to keep our patience and take our time.”
