Tigers shutdown Hawks

13/08/2008 10:36:00 AM
THE Tingha Tigers have returned to their winning ways.

The Tigers took on the Inverell Hawks at the Tingha Sport and Recreation Ground and showed their style 50-14.

But the scoreboard didn't display how tough the game actually was.

At half time the Tigers led 12-10 and straight after the break, the Hawks scored.

It wasn't until Tigers player Hamish Brown took off down the paddock for a lone try with 18 minutes to go.

Captain-coach Nathan Blacklock said that was the turning point of the game.

"From there we just ran away with it," Blacklock said.

"We have finally got back to that winning feeling.

"The first half was definitely tough for us and with three disallowed tries, we were starting to get a bit worried.

"But we just turned it around and really started playing footy.

"This win has really helped us boost our confidence.

"Our two top players were Hamish Brown and Nathan Fenton, who both had great games.

"The whole team just went really well and we are pleased."

Hawks captain-coach Andrew le Breton said was disappointing.

"We had a few injuries and we just played really ordinary in the second half," le Breton said.

"We didn't complete enough sets but it was a good contest until the middle of the second half.

"Nathan Guan, Corey Lewis and Matt Lewis all played really well and kept trying all day.

"The main thing we need to do going into our final games is make sure we stick to our game plan and what we work on at training.
