IT was a tough but fun competition for the Inverell Netball Association 13-year representative team at the State Age Championships.
The team travelled to Belmont in Newcastle to play in the three-day event.
They played 25 games and coach Debbie Wilson said she was pleased with how well they played.
"It was a culture shock for them because the city teams are a lot taller," Wilson said.
"All of the girls played really well though and it was a good team effort.
"They managed to get to the state championships, which was victory for them anyway."
To get to the championships, the girls needed to play in the state league and trained very hard.
"Twice a week we had training and they worked on their fitness in their own time as well," Wilson said.
"They really put in a lot of effort.
"I would also like to thank all the parents who helped out while we were away and those who fundraised.
"Without their help, we wouldn't have been able to go."
There will be trials for teams next year over the next two months.
For 17 years the trial is on August 23, 14 and 15 years is August 30 and September 6 and 12 and 13 years are on September 13 and 14.
These sessions are at the Inverell Netball Courts and start at 8.30am.
