Championships a success
19/08/2008 | Inverell RSM Pistol Club hosted the North East West Zone Championships on the weekend. Secretary Phillip DeFraine said the shoot was held with great success with only a few teething problems.
19/08/2008 | IT was a tough but fun competition for the Inverell Netball Association 13-year representative team at the State Age Championships. The team travelled to Belmont in Newcastle to play in the three-day event.
19/08/2008 | IT was a big day for Inverell horse trainer John Berger at the Namoi Cotton-Landmark Mungindi Cup on Saturday. Not only did the two horses he trained come home successful, Berger was announced the leading trainer of the day.

Gymnasts show style and class
15/08/2008 | SIX students from Inverell High School travelled to Glendale, in Newcastle, to compete in the Combined High Schools annual gymnastics competitions. Four girls competed rhythmic, one boy participated in men's artistic and another boy was in special O's gymnastics.
Off to state finals
15/08/2008 | The Inverell High School Open Boys Touch team has qualified for the NSW CHS Top 10 Final Series for the seventh year in a row. The Inverell High team defeated Sydney team, Sarah Redfern High School, nine tries to 4 in the inter-regional final played at the Inverell Sports Complex recently.
Cleave selected to represent Australia
15/08/2008 | FORMER Inverell resident Rachael Cleave (pictured right) has been selected to play touch football for Australia in the World Cup at Scotland in 2011.
Last home match for Highlanders

Over 55s mens bowls
13/08/2008 | LOCAL pair Bob Wemyss and Barry Ezzy have taken out the Inverell Easts Over 55's Pairs Tournament which was held last Wednesday.
13/08/2008 | A SLOW start allowed the Moree Bulls to get one over the Inverell Highlanders on Saturday. The match, at Weebollabolla Oval, proved to be tough for the Highlanders and at half time the Bulls lead 33-10.
Tigers shutdown Hawks
13/08/2008 | THE Tingha Tigers have returned to their winning ways. The Tigers took on the Inverell Hawks at the Tingha Sport and Recreation Ground and showed their style 50-14. But the scoreboard didn't display how tough the game actually was.
A decider awaits
8/08/2008 | IN a similar light to the State of Origin, the Tingha Tigers and Inverell Hawks face their decider of the Group 19 season before final fever starts. It is a one-all draw at the moment, with the Tigers winning the first game and the Hawks taking the second.

Disappointment for Highlanders
5/08/2008 | THE Inverell Highlanders didn't get the win they were hoping for when they played the Tamworth Pirates on Saturday. Despite being the better team on the day and scoring two tries to the Pirates one, the penalty count didn't work in the Highlanders' favour.
