Training reaches heights
19/08/2008 | A PILOT course run between New England NorthWest Group Training and BEST Employment has been successful. Ten men completed Working in Confined Spaces and Working at Heights courses and are now looking for jobs.
Dancing diva excels in Sydney
19/08/2008 | AS the Inverell Eisteddfod begins today, one competitor will be noticeably absent from the program. Kymberleigh Cowley is well known around Inverell for her skills in dance and she was the lucky recipient of a scholarship to attend McDonald College of Performing Arts in Strathfield Sydney to further her craft.
Blue line helps red sheild
19/08/2008 | PEOPLE who are less fortunate in Inverell will benefit from a fundraiser hosted by the Blue Liners Touring Motorcycle Group. The Blue Liners are made up of police, former police, their family and friends. Last month, the group hosted a Christmas in July as part of their annual get-together.
Working to fight crime
19/08/2008 | TARGETING high-risk weekends was on the agenda at the Inverell and District Liquor Accord meeting last week. Alcohol Action in Rural Communities (AARC) research officer Stephanie Love spoke to those in attendance about ways to reduce alcohol related crime on the identified weekends and the results of the recent identified weekend.

15/08/2008 | NARELLE Kliendanze, Visual Art and Photography teacher at Macintyre High School, Inverell has been selected from over 1200 entries to be one of the 70 finalists in the Blake Art Prize. The Blake Prize for Religious Art is one of the more prestigious art prizes in Australia.

15/08/2008 | RESIDENTIAL homes and properties were threatened when a bushfire swept through private and National Parks land on Fisher Rd. More than 70 hectares of land has been devastated by the fire about 6km out of town off the Gwydir Hwy.

Recently they made a commitment to raise $1,200 for the purchase of a Rotary Shelter Box which will give much needed humanitarian aid and comfort to victims of disasters such as earthquakes, cyclones or tsunamis.

13/08/2008 | TEN Northhaven Recycling Centre employees have completed a 12-week waste management training course. The course, developed by New England Institute of TAFE, was the second for Northaven, with 12 students completing the training in November last year.

13/08/2008 | AUSSIE Olympians will get some very special mail from primary school students in Inverell. As part of the Australia Post Letter Link program, children have been able to write directly to their heroes including athletes John Steffenson, Grant Hackett, Michael Diamond and Lauren Jackson.

13/08/2008 | AFTER 20 years of policing in Inverell - senior constable Scott Chester is saying goodbye to the community. And he is going to be greatly missed. Senior constable Chester, his wife Sharon and their children Josh and Liam are moving to Gloucester where he will take on the position of sector supervisor.

13/08/2008 | IT has been an action packed two weeks for Inverell flutist Lauren Williams - but she has enjoyed every moment. The 14-year-old Macintyre High School student was a member of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Orchestra and returns home from China tomorrow.
New service to Armidale
